Sycamore Community School District 427 Names Svetlana Popovic Director of Learning & Teaching (K-5)

Sycamore Community School District 427 is pleased to announce that Ms. Svetlana Popovic has been appointed as the district's new Director of Learning & Teaching (K-5), effective July 1, 2026.

Ms. Popovic brings more than 15 years of educational leadership experience focused on curriculum and instruction, professional learning, and school improvement. She currently serves as Principal of Hodgkins Elementary School in La Grange School District 105, where she has led initiatives to strengthen instructional practices, improve student achievement, increase family engagement, and promote inclusive learning environments for all students.

“I'm excited to support, learn, and lead alongside so many dedicated educators and to create an environment where we can all thrive in Sycamore Community School District 427,” said Ms. Popovic.

Prior to her role as principal, Ms. Popovic served as a Regional Systems Consultant and Coach with Humanex Ventures, partnering with school districts throughout Illinois and the Midwest to develop leadership capacity and improve organizational culture.

Her previous experience also includes serving as an assistant principal, literacy coach, and reading specialist in Deerfield School District 109 and Kildeer Countryside Community Consolidated School District 96. Ms. Popovic holds a Master of Education in Reading, an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from National Louis University, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in School Leadership.
