Sycamore Community School District 427 is proud to announce that the Little Spartans Early Learning Program, the district’s Preschool for All (PFA) program, has been awarded the Gold Circle of Quality by ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s quality recognition and improvement system for early learning and development programs.

The Gold Circle of Quality is the highest rating within the ExceleRate system and highlights a program’s commitment to excellence in early childhood education. ExceleRate Illinois sets statewide standards across all early learning programs, focusing on instructional quality, family engagement, staff qualifications, professional development, and program administration.

“I am just so excited and proud of all our students and staff for this wonderful achievement. Our staff's dedication to providing quality and best practice early childhood education is seen in every classroom every day is truly wonderful to see,” said Mrs. Niamh Welp, Early Childhood Administrator. “ I am grateful to work with this team and their commitment to learning and growing right along with each of our students everyday.”

The Little Spartans Early Learning Program serves 150 students ages 3 through 5 in both morning and afternoon preschool sessions at South Prairie Elementary School. As part of the state-funded Preschool for All initiative, the program provides high-quality, research-based early learning opportunities. A dedicated team of 24 staff members works to provide a nurturing and engaging learning environment that lays the foundation for student success throughout a Spartan’s journey.

“As Interim Superintendent and as a parent whose three children got their start in the Little Spartans Early Learning Program, I know this recognition is well deserved,” said Mr. Nick Reineck, Interim Superintendent. “While many families in our community have long known the value of this program, the Gold Circle of Quality only affirms that our youngest learners are supported by an amazing team of caring, skilled educators who give our students the best possible start. I have seen firsthand the difference this program makes, and I am incredibly proud of our staff and grateful for the strong foundation they provide our youngest Spartans.”
